Getting back to the core
I'm a native Californian who started ceramic arts in 1993 at The Potters Studio. After a year I decided to travel through Central & South America where I was influenced by everything in nature and history such as the volcanos, jungles, Mayan temples with ancient carvings, and rough stoneware.
Even the dainty and delicate gifts that I found from nature on my travels like little rocks, shells, flowers, seed pods have stayed in my psyche and heart and are channeled in the creations of my work today.
My love of the desert and its silence inspired me to retreat to Joshua Tree, a place where I go for creative rejuvenation. The time spent out there the last few years has reawakened my passion for sculptural ceramics. The influence of being a Chef and raising three children for the last 18 years is instrumental in the detail, shape, and movement of my pieces today. I am being brought back to my core when creating new & passionate works.
My pieces are fluid yet rustic and raw in form. Like a flower of giant petals from a petrified garden or Sea funnel. Each piece is one of a kind just like nature. Something you would like to take home with you to remember a point in your journey.
